One morning this week I was messaging my trainer at 6am (I am NOT a morning person, the struggle continues) …I remember telling him how I felt fine but work was really wearing me out.
My mind instantly went on Oona.
I was supposed to get in touch with Oona over a week ago. But life was happening and WORK was keeping me both busy and tired.
Something she said to me in a recent conversation really struck me she said she refused to be “disrespectful” to God…..so she had to leave her job so that she would have the time to focus on sharing her gift. She said she was now working minimum hours and even at that, she told her boss she needed to cut them down more so that she could be present in her purpose…..creating and sharing her art.
I’m sitting there (once again) wondering WHEN I will develop this kind of faith! Wondering what a different world we would live in if we all understood how to listen to the voice of God direct us on our paths of purpose instead of just doing what we’re “supposed” to do.
I mean many of us (myself included) are working at jobs we generally can tolerate, but that drain all of our life and energy. They do not excite or enrich us nearly as much as they frustrate and take from us…..yet we stay, year after year after year after year…..
Now understand that this isn’t an easy thing. Oona told me how she left her job with less than $100 in the bank. I’m like WHA??? But yes, really. Two kids to feed, bills to pay and less than $100 in the bank….she left and guess what. She’s doing fine almost a year later. Not always easy, but when we are putting up with life draining jobs it often isn’t easy either!
Everyone’s path won’t be the same as Oona’s. Some people LOVE their jobs. Some people have a gift to give that involves service in their career or job and that’s a wonderful thing. For the rest of us….let’s get working on make the next move….stepping out on faith and toward our discontinued “disrespect” to God.
Happy Friday yall!
